How To Use Electric Drill

Electric drill suppliers will share this article about electric drills with you.

I.Instructions

1. Personal protection when using an electric drill

1) Wear a protective mask when working with the face-up. Wear protective glasses when drilling holes in pig iron castings to protect your eyes.

2) The drill holder should be properly installed.

3) The drill bit is in a hot state during operation, so be careful to burn your skin.

4) When drilling a hand-held electric drill with a diameter of 12mm or more, use a pistol drill with a side handle.

5) Standing on a ladder or working at a height, measures should be taken to fall from a height, and the ladder should be supported by ground personnel.

2. Matters needing attention before the operation

1) Confirm whether the power source connected to the site matches the nameplate of the electric drill. Whether there is a leakage protector connected.

2) The drill bit and the holder should be matched and installed properly.

3) Make sure that the switch on the electric drill is turned on, otherwise, the electric drill will rotate unexpectedly when the plug is inserted into the power socket, which may cause personal injury.

4) If the worksite is far away from the power source and the cable needs to be extended, use a qualified extension cable with sufficient capacity. If the extension cable passes through the pedestrian walkway, it should be elevated or take measures to prevent the cable from being crushed and damaged.

3. The correct operation method of the electric drill

1) Drilling holes in metal materials should first be used to punch the holes where they are drilled.

2) When drilling larger holes, drill through with a small drill in advance, and then use a large drill to drill the hole.

3) If you need to drill holes in metal for a long time, you can take certain cooling measures to keep the drill sharp.

4) It is strictly forbidden to clean the drill chips produced by drilling by hand. Use special tools to clean the chips.

4. Maintenance and inspection

1) Check the drill bit: The use of a dull or curved drill bit will make the motor overload surface abnormal and reduce the work efficiency. Therefore, if such a situation is found, it should be replaced immediately.

2) Check the fastening screws of the electric drill body: check the fastening of the installation screws of the electric drill body before use. If the screws are found to be loose, they should be tightened immediately, otherwise, it will cause the electric drill to malfunction.

3) Check the carbon brushes: The carbon brushes on the motor are consumables. Once their wear exceeds the limit, the motor will malfunction. Therefore, the worn-out carbon brushes should be replaced immediately, and the carbon brushes must always be kept clean.

4) Inspection of protective grounding wire: Protective grounding wire is an important measure to protect personal safety. Therefore, Class I appliances (metal casing) should be checked frequently and their casings should be well-grounded.

II.How to change the drill bit of the electric drill?

Generally speaking, the way to change the drill bit of electric drill and impact drill is the same, just because the drill chuck on the drill bit is divided into the self-tightening drill chuck and hand-tightening drill chuck. When replacing the drill bit, we need to hold the drill chuck with one hand and turn on the reverse switch of the electric drill at the same time. This simply replaces the original drill bit and use the same method to put the drill bit up. Of course, power tools manufacturer reminds: don’t forget the forward and reverse switch. Dial back, if it is a hand-tight drill chuck, you can replace it by opening the drill chuck key.
