Woodworking Safety Code

Hand Axe Leading Exporters will introduce you to woodworking safety regulations.

(1) Axe and adze

Axes and adzes are the main cutting tools for woodworking. Single-edged axes are suitable for chopping; double-edged axes are suitable for chopping. The adze is mainly used for cutting large wood planes.

①Always keep the blades of axe and adze sharp, which is conducive to cutting into the wood. Axes and adzes with a blunt blade will slide over the surface of the wood and injure human legs or feet/

②When cutting horizontally, the wood should be stuck on the workbench, the side to be cut face up, and both hands should hold the axe; when cutting vertically, hold the wood with one hand and hold the axe firmly with the other hand, and use force when starting to drop the axe. Be light, master the direction of the axe and the amount of force, and gradually increase the force.

③When cutting, pay attention to the arc of motion of the ax and adze. Within the range of the arc of motion, there should be no obstacles such as steel wire, iron wire, rattan, or branches to prevent hooking the axe and adze from sliding out of the hand. In case of injury, be careful when using adze, and be sure to cut it firmly.

④When cutting on the ground, the operator must wear safety shoes; the wood that is chopped should be padded with wooden blocks; when the log is broken, the wood should be placed on a horse stand or pillow trough to fix the wood. , To prevent the wood from slipping and hurting the feet and legs of the operator.

⑤You must always pay attention to whether the connection between the axe and the handle is firm to prevent the ax from flying out and hurting people; if you encounter a scar knot during cutting, do not cut hard, but cut from the center of the scar knot to both sides.

(2) Saw

There are many kinds of sewing tools used by woodworkers. Due to the different structure of saws, they are divided into frame saws (also called frame saws, rough saws, middle saws, fine saws, round saws, large saws, etc.), horizontal saws, knife saws, and inverted saws. Saws, panel saws, narrow hand saws, wire saws, etc.

① Before using the frame saw, adjust the angle of the saw blade by turning the knob. Generally, it should be 45° with the plane of the wooden frame. Use hinges to twist the rope tightly to make the saw blade straight and tight; when starting the saw, hold it tightly with your right hand For the saw handle, press the left hand at the beginning, gently push and pull a few times, do not use too much force; do not twist left and right when sawing, heavy when feeding the saw, light when lifting the saw, and the rhythm of pushing and pulling should be even; When finished, hold the sawn part firmly by hand. After use, loosen the saw blade and hang it in a firm position.

②When using a horizontal saw, the force of the two hands should be balanced to prevent the saw from running to the side of the strong force; when correcting the deviation, the deviation should be corrected slowly to prevent the saw blade from jamming or breaking the saw blade.

③When using the wire saw, do not use too much force, and the saw speed should not be too fast to avoid breaking the wire. When sawing, the operator's head is not allowed to be on the upper end of the bow frame, so as to avoid bounce injury to the face when the wire is broken.

④Check the sharpness of the saw blade and the firmness of the saw frame and the handle of the saw at any time; repair the saw blade with dull teeth and uneven slope, and repair the damage of the rope, nut, knob, handle and wooden frame , Can continue to use after recovery.

(3) Chisel

A chisel is a tool for drilling holes, grooving, and cutting narrow parts. Divided into a flat chisel, inclined chisel, round chisel, and so on. Flat chisels are used for square holes and cutting; inclined chisels should be used for chamfering, grooving, and narrow parts; round chisels are specially used for round holes or curved parts.

①Before chiseling, the wood should be placed on the workbench. When hitting the chisel, hold the chisel handle tightly with one hand, and do not swing the chisel from side to side to prevent the hammer from slipping and hurting your hands.

②The chisel handle should be made of hard sandalwood, beech, oak wood. In order to prevent the handle end from fluffing or cracks or cracks when being hit, a protective iron hoop should be installed at the hitting place of the handle end.

③When chiseling, pay attention to the firmness of the hammer handle and chisel handle at all times to prevent the hammer from flying off and hurting people; do not use the wood chisel as a prying tool; keep the chisel when not in use, and do not place it in a place that is easy to fall.

Claw Hammers

 Claw Hammers

(4) Claw Hammers

① To drive the nail straight into the wood, the top of the hammer should be perpendicular to the axis of the nail during operation, and don't be skewed, otherwise the nail is easy to bend.

②In order to make the nail into the wood smoothly, the first few hammers should be tapped to keep the nail straight into the wood to a certain depth, and the last few hammers can be slightly harder to avoid bending of the nail body.

③When nailing nails on hardwood, J should first drill a small hole in the wood according to the nail specification, and then nail it to prevent the nail from being bent or splitting the wood nail.

④The claw hammer should not be used as a prying tool, and attention should be paid to the flatness of the hammering surface to prevent the nail from flying out or the hammer from slipping and hurting people.
